Ross Ainslie & Jarlath Henderson Band

Two of the fieriest talents in contemporary Celtic piping, Scotland’s Ross Ainslie and Tyrone-born Jarlath Henderson first met back in 2003 at the William Kennedy Piping Festival in Armagh – the same year that Jarlath became the first uilleann piper to win the coveted BBC Young Folk Award, aged just 19, having already taken three All-Ireland titles. Ross, meanwhile, is a former star pupil of the late, great and ground¬breaking Perthshire piper Gordon Duncan, also learning his craft in the elite ranks of the Grade 1 Vale of Atholl Pipe Band.

In the aftermath of a late night session collaboration of their respective trio outfits, Ross and Jarlath formed a big band line-up featuring guitarist Ali Hutton (Old Blind Dogs, Treacherous Orchestra) internationally renowned percussionist James Mackintosh (Shooglenifty, Michael McGoldrick Band) and much sought after bassist Duncan Lyall, combining a superbly executed, pan-Celtic array of traditional, contemporary and original tunes with powerhouse rhythm work.
