Calum Alex & Seonaidh Beag MacMillan - An Lanntair, Wednesday afternoon
Seonaidh Beag MacMillan is the well renowned singer who performed with Gaelic folk group The Lochies through the 1970s and '80s. The Lochies recorded seven albums over the years and toured extensively. He is the father of Gaelic singer and piper Calum Alex MacMillan who from an early age immersed in Gaelic song and traditional music.
At the age of eighteen Calum Alex won the Mod Gold Medal and he also went on to win the Traditional Gold Medal and the prestigious Seann Nós competition at the Pan Celtic Festival. In 2005, his highly successful debut album, Tàladh nan Cuantan was released. More recently, Calum Alex has joined the groundbreaking group Dàimh, whose latest album Crossing Point was received with critical acclaim.
Here we present father and son together for an afternoon of traditional Gaelic song with musical accompaniment from Lynsey Macritchie.
