Teine are an all girl band based on the Isle of Lewis. They formed whilst all students at Nicolson Institute. Comprising Lynsey MacRitchie (piano, fiddle and Djembe), Michelle Morrison (vocals and piano), Catriona Watt (vocals, fiddle and whistle) and Judie Morrison (clarsach, fiddle and vocals).
The girls have entertained regularly in local village halls and at ceilidhs, have also competed at various Mods, winning at local and national level. They featured on the opening nights of the Hebridean Celtic Festival 2004 and 2005 and consequently were invited to play at Celtic Fusion in County Down, Northern Ireland. Teine have also performed at Danny Kyle's Open Stage, Celtic Connections and represented the Western Isles in Orkney at the 30th Anniversary celebrations of the Islands' Councils.
Teine, keen to record this CD before setting off for College and University, fully intend to stay together in the future. Làn Tighe Chaileagan certainly guarantees that more exciting things are to come from this promising Hebridean quartet.
