The Waterboys

The Waterboys

After setting the record for the biggest gig in the islands - ever – back in 2003 The Waterboys’ return to the festival has been long overdue.

Formed in 1983 by Mike Scott they became famous for their powerful live performances and majestic alternative rock albums such as A Pagan Place and This Is The Sea, which included their biggest hit The Whole Of The Moon. After the recruitment of Irish fiddle maestro Steve Wickham, the band created their million-selling album Fisherman's Blues, on which Scott's original and unusual songwriting was merged with older music - country, trad, blues and gospel - to electrifying effect. Since then The Waterboys have continued to make genre-busting records and have matured into one of the world's finest live acts.

Their most recent album, An Appointment With Mr Yeats, a collection of lyrics by Ireland's greatest poet turned into incendiary rock songs, rapturously received by critics and audiences alike. Expect to enjoy a mix of "killer vintage Waterboys" and the brilliant songs from An Appointment With Mr Yeats.
