Ferry Travel

Caledonian MacBrayne run a direct car and passenger ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway, a car/passenger ferry to/from Skye to Harris and also to Lochmaddy in North Uist. Inter-island services also operate between Ardmhor in Barra and Eriskay in South Uist and also from Berneray in North Uist to Leverburgh and Harris.

The introduction of cheaper ferry fares to Hebridean routes has dramatically reduced the cost of travel to the islands and vehicle pre-booking is advised.

Ferry Parking

To help with expected congestion in Ullapool over festival weekend arrangements with parking will be made at the school. Please follow the HebCelt parking signage when entering Ullapool and allow additional time to your journey.

Vehicles left are done so at the owner's discretion. Please park responsibly as vehicles causing traffic problems will be removed and inevitably this will incur recovery costs.

Regular bus services connect with the ferry arrival and departure times.

You must book your travel between Ullapool and Inverness to ensure that adequate seats are available for all who intend to travel.

Train Links

You can get as far as Inverness by train, and then go by bus to Ullapool.
You can travel as far as Oban, Mallaig and Kyle by train, and then travel onwards by bus to the ferry from Skye to Harris.
