The Island Spirit Whisky Shop is a family run business based on the Isle of Lewis owned by husband and wife team, Iain and Mary Faller.
The inspiration to open their own whisky shop grew from Iain’s passionate interest in Scotch Malt Whisky, which began as a hobby, collecting rare and old, small batch bottlings, distillery and travel exclusives. They now stock Scotch and international single malts, blended whiskies; independent bottlings, craft gins, rum and other spirits, as well as locally brewed craft beers and other locally made products.
They planned to open their shop in Cromwell Street, Stornoway in March 2020 but had to delay opening until July due to the first lock down. In the meantime, they carried out local deliveries and posting orders to the UK mainland and even to Europe.
In their first year they have organised many virtual whisky and gin tastings which has now developed to include group cocktail making evenings, live gin and whisky tasting events. In collaboration with fellow whisky enthusiast Jim Allan, of Uisge-Beatha-Hebrides Tastings, The Island Spirit Whisky Shop is currently developing its Whisky Tasting service and are delighted and honoured to have been invited to organise this exciting event for the Survival Sessions 2021.
