We’re delighted to shine a spotlight on Astar, who are celebrating their second year as a HebCelt sponsor of our Gaelic Volunteer Team.
A partnership that feels like a natural fit, bringing together Astar’s passion for Gaelic, community and creativity with HebCelt’s commitment to celebrating and championing our island’s language and culture.
Astar are a Stornoway and Glasgow-based projects agency delivering media, public engagement and Gaelic projects across Scotland. Their work brings together creativity, community engagement and a strong commitment to Gaelic, making their partnership with HebCelt a particularly natural fit.
Their support helps us give Gaelic a stronger and more visible presence throughout the festival, with our Gaelic Volunteer Team playing an important role in bringing the language to life across the site.
You’ll find our Gaelic Volunteers meeting and greeting festival-goers in Gaelic, helping people discover and use the language in a relaxed and welcoming way, and encouraging everyone to get involved.
They also deliver fun Gaelic taster sessions, giving people the opportunity to learn a few words and phrases, whether they’re complete beginners or already have some Gaelic. These informal sessions are a great way to introduce people to the language and show that Gaelic is something that can be enjoyed and shared by everyone.
Our team also help create and share content in Gaelic throughout the festival, bringing the language into the wider HebCelt experience and showcasing the living, vibrant Gaelic culture at the heart of our island.
This is about much more than simply having Gaelic on signs or in the programme - it’s about people using, sharing and enjoying the language, and creating opportunities for festival-goers to experience Gaelic for themselves.
That’s why Astar’s support is so important. Their own work championing Gaelic, creativity and community engagement aligns so closely with what we’re trying to achieve at HebCelt.
A huge Mòran taing to the whole Astar team for supporting our Gaelic Volunteer Team for a second year and helping us make Gaelic such a welcoming, visible and vibrant part of the HebCelt experience.
Two years of partnership - and we’re delighted to have Astar as part of the HebCelt family!
